André Kertész (1894-1985) was one of the most important modernist photographers of the 20th century and ranks among the first tier of masters in photographic history. Known for his distinctive compositions, poetic observation of everyday life, and sensitive use of light, space, and chance, he had a profound influence on street, documentary, and modernist photography.

His major works include Chez Mondrian (1926), Meudon (1928), Distortions (1933), and Satiric Dancer (1926). Chez Mondrian combines architectural geometry, plants, and spatial structure in a distinctly modernist composition. Meudon creates a striking visual relationship between figures, bridges, and urban space. Distortions uses funhouse mirrors to transform the human body, exploring perception, reality, and photographic representation.

Kertész’s work is held by major institutions including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), The Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met), the Art Institute of Chicago, the J. Paul Getty Museum, and Centre Pompidou. He is regarded as a key figure connecting **European modernism, street photography, and 20th-century documentary photography. Vintage original silver gelatin prints hold significant art-historical, photographic, scholarly, and museum-collection value.
