Félix Adrien Bonfils (1831-1885) was a renowned 19th-century French photographer of the Middle East, often called the “Master of Oriental Photography.” In 1867, he settled in Beirut and established the Bonfils Studio (Maison Bonfils), becoming one of the first French photographers to work long-term in the Near East. The studio was famous for producing a large number of albumen photographs, covering landscapes, architecture, religious sites, and local people.
邦菲尔斯(全名；费利克斯·阿德里安·邦菲尔斯/Félix Adrien Bonfils，1831-1885）是19世纪法国著名的中东地区摄影师，被誉为“东方的摄影大师”。他于1867年定居贝鲁特，创办了“邦菲尔斯工作室”（Maison Bonfils），成为首位在近东地区长期从事摄影的法国人之一。该工作室以生产大量的蛋白照片而闻名，涵盖风景、建筑、宗教遗址以及当地人物等题材。
Bonfils’ works were highly popular in Europe and America at the time, providing travelers and scholars with a window into the Middle East, and today serve as invaluable visual records for studying 19th-century Middle Eastern society, culture, and architecture. He was also among the early photographers to experiment with newly developed color photography techniques in the 1880s.
