The Fengtai Photography Studio was founded in 1892 by Ren Qingtai (1850-1932) in the Tudi Temple of Liulichang, Beijing. Ren, a native of Faku County, Liaoning, came from a distinguished family, reputedly with ancestral ties to Nurhaci. As a young man, Ren traveled to Japan to study modern industries, where he mastered physics and photography. Perceiving the great potential of photography in China, he returned to Beijing and opened Fengtai Photography Studio—the first photo studio in the capital established by a Chinese owner. The studio employed over ten technicians and apprentices and soon became renowned for producing theatrical portraits of Beijing opera stars.


北京丰泰照相馆于1892年由任庆泰（1850年-1932年)在北京的一家琉璃厂土地祠创办，丰泰照相馆以为京剧名伶拍戏装照闻名京城，也是中国最早的电影制作机构，1909年丰泰照相馆毁于火灾。 

In 1905, Ren purchased a French-made hand-cranked motion picture camera and fourteen rolls of film from the German-owned Kuhloff firm in the Legation Quarter. He invited the celebrated Peking opera master Tan Xinpei to star in Dingjun Mountain. This short film captured three scenes—“Requesting the Command,” “Brandishing the Sword,” and “The Battle”—and became the first motion picture ever made in China. When screened at the Daguanlou Theater, it drew overwhelming audiences, creating what contemporary accounts described as “streets emptied for the show.” Thus, from within this modest studio, Chinese cinema took its very first steps. Ren also invested in the Daguanlou Theater, which became one of the earliest venues for film exhibition in China, marking the birth of both Chinese filmmaking and cinema culture.

丰泰照相馆开办于1892年，老板任庆泰是辽宁法库县人。任家是当地的名门望族，据说他祖上还跟努尔哈赤沾亲带故。青年时代，任景丰东渡日本考察实业，学习了现代的物理学和照相技术。他敏锐地发现，照相业在中国的前景可观。1892年他在北京琉璃厂开设了北京第一家由中国人创办的照相馆——丰泰照相馆。照相馆有技师和学徒10余人。 

1905年，任庆泰在到东交民巷德国人开设的祁罗孚洋行购买了一架法国制造的木壳手摇摄影机和14卷胶片，并且邀请当时最著名的京剧名角谭鑫培拍摄《定军山》。最终，这部中国最早的电影拍摄了《定军山》里“请缨”“舞刀”“交锋”三个场面。后来，《定军山》在大观楼影戏院放映时，受到观众热烈欢迎，竟出现了“万人空巷来观之势”。自此，中国电影从这间小小的照相馆中拉开了帷幕，开创了中国人拍摄影片的先河。此外，任景丰还在大栅栏投资开设了大观楼影戏园,成为中国最早的电影放映场所之一。 >>返回>>
