备注：苏州双塔又称罗汉院双塔，始建于北宋太平兴国七年（982），是两座典雅的七层八角楼阁式砖塔。双塔是一对佛塔，外形几乎一模一样，两塔间相距仅20来米。像这样紧紧靠在一起的双塔，全国来说也是仅有的，因为能在这么近的距离修建两座塔，对地基的要求相当高，也显示出古人建筑科学的高超智慧。千百年来，风霜雨雪，双塔依旧。此照片背面有“大马路悦容楼”印章。
Yue-Rong Lou (On-Qua Photographer) was one of the prominent photographic studios active in Shanghai in the late 19th century, located east of the ball court at the intersection of Shanghai Da Ma Road (now Nanjing Road) and Henan Road. The studio was renowned for producing CDV (Carte de Visite) photographs, a format that became popular in Europe and America in the 1850s. These small, card-sized images were convenient for mailing and collecting, making them highly favored by local citizens and merchants.
Yue-Rong Lou not only provided portrait services for the local population but also catered to the needs of foreign residents, combining Western photographic techniques with Eastern subjects, thereby reflecting a unique cultural fusion. Its works emphasized careful control of lighting and composition, capturing facial features and costume details accurately within the small format, demonstrating a high level of professional skill. Existing CDV photographs show that Yue-Rong Lou held a significant position in Shanghai’s commercial photography scene at the time. The images served not only commemorative and social purposes but also became valuable visual records for studying urban life and social culture in late Qing Shanghai.
悦容楼（On-Qua Photographer）是19世纪末活跃于上海的重要摄影机构之一，坐落于大马路（今上海南京路）与河南路交汇处抛球场以东，是当时沪上最具代表性的影楼之一。该馆以拍摄CDV（Carte de Visite，小型肖像名片照）而闻名，这类照片起源于欧洲，因其小巧便于邮寄与交换，在市民、商贾及士绅阶层中广受欢迎。悦容楼的客户涵盖中外人士，既满足本地市民的肖像留念需求，也迎合外国侨民的文化趣味，形成了中西摄影传统的交融。
