《北京的城墙和城门》1924年出版，喜龙仁花两年时间考察了北京的城墙和城门，近距离观察、实地测绘、搜集资料，不仅对它们的营造历史和修缮过程进行了深入研究，更对每一段城墙的碑记、用料、砌筑特点等进行了详细描述和考证。并且拍摄了大量的照片，绘制了多幅测绘图，为我们了解这座古都留下了珍贵翔实的资料。这些残存的物证、尘封的光影，与满布岁月痕迹的古迹颓垣一起，衔接起历史的断章，成为北京城辉煌往昔的无声记录。


Svald Sirén (1879-1966) was a Swedish sinologist and art historian, regarded as one of the most important Western scholars of Chinese architectural history in the 20th century. He served as Professor of Art History at Stockholm University and as Chief Curator of the Department of Paintings and Sculpture at the Nationalmuseum of Sweden. He was also a recipient of the Charles Lang Freer Medal.  Beginning in 1916, he lectured at leading institutions including Yale University, Harvard University, and major universities in Japan. From 1920 onward, he visited China six times and developed a profound admiration for East Asian art. Sirén conducted in-depth research on Chinese ancient architecture, sculpture, and painting. His major works include The Walls and Gates of Peking (1924), Chinese Sculpture from the Fifth to the Fourteenth Century (1925), The Imperial City of Peking (1926), A History of Early Chinese Art (1929), and Gardens of China (1949). 

喜龙仁/Svald Sirén（1879-1966年），瑞典汉学家、艺术史学家，他是20世纪西方极为重要的中国建筑史学专家。他曾担任瑞典斯德哥尔摩大学艺术史教授、瑞典博物馆绘画与雕塑部主任馆员等职，查尔斯·朗·弗利尔奖章（Charles Lang Freer Medal）获得者。1916年起，相继赴美国耶鲁大学、哈佛大学和日本名校讲学。1920年起六次来华，并深深爱上了东方艺术。对中国古代建筑、雕塑、绘画艺术研究极深，代表作有《北京的城墙和城门》（1924）、《中国雕塑》（1925）、《中国北京皇城写真全图》（1926）、《中国早期艺术史》（1929）、《中国园林》（1949）等。>>返回>>
